IMMUNOLOGY

Bacterial meningitis A 39-year-old woman presents with
complaints of a severe headache and stiff neck. She has a temperature
of 38.6, has pain on anterior flexion of the neck, and Kernig’s sign is
present. She is admitted to the hospital and placed on IV antibiotics
after a blood culture is drawn. The next day petechial hemorrhages
appear on her abdomen and thighs. Below are images from a similar case. |
